Serving as both a collection of hand-drawn typographical puzzles and an act of reflection – the viewer is invited to explore and rediscover the subject of loss, literally represented by specific words and metaphorically represented as the color spectrum. The 30 subjects span the chasm between trivial and those dealing with mortality; hitting upon satirical, historical, anthropological and familial points along the way. Not long after being drawn into the enticing game of seek and find, it becomes impossible to avoid considering the implications of being physically or emotionally detached from what we lose (personally and culturally) even before it is lost. This duality permeates the book’s individualized experience and changes the role of the reader to that of an active participant whenever a subject resonates. Perhaps there is an opportunity here to act upon the reflection?
